Launch :: Memories of Mum

Memories of Mum is officially launched! As I have mentioned before, it is really a collection that I have grown to love so much and I believe that you will too. It features little snippets of reflections of my encounters with my mum.

Doing up the series has been a whole lot of fun. Halfway through, I ventured into some more "young-ish" pieces as mum can only be mum with a child. And mums always have their children in mind no matter what the occasion is.

Coiffered $26

In many memories of mum that I have from childhood, I seem to recall the dress up scenes the best. She would comb through my hair, talking to me as she did so. Such intimate times we shared!

This pair of earrings pays tribute to those intimate moments between mother and daughter through the use of bronze toned combs with diamante insets, dainty rose buds and Swarovski AB crystals.

My mum has many looks. Amongst the formal, casual and day out styles, I believe she can carry this one off. The hues just enhance her light skin tone and balance the "summer fun" look so well.

Bright summery hues dominate this bracelet. Made of duo toned beads paired with Swarovski crystals and rhodium plated charms. Closed with silver toned toggle clasp.

Even after so many years, black is still in. It is a colour that will never go out of fashion I guess!

In this piece, black based flower printed tensha beads are matched with jet black Swarovski crystals and finished with a gold toned tassle.

Elegant Spring -- SOLD --

Lovely light summery printed tensha beads, light gold freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals are matched with gold toned fan charm and hoops. Closed with lobster clasp. This bracelet has a subtle elegance about it. Think light summery days and white linen dresses.

I love it. One of my personal favourites :-)

Tensha Flair $22

Gold toned filagree, Swarovski crystals and Japanese floral printed tensha beads. Bold and beautiful. Tensha Flair makes a pretty bold statement, taking someone with such a nature to carry it off well.

I am sure you can think of someone who can do it splendidly.

Humility -- SOLD --

Bronze finished intricate charms dangle from a delicate chain and Swarovski AB crystals. The old school colour brings to mind ... something old, something treasured.

Gentle Grace -- SOLD --

Mum knew how to catch the sun's rays... her sparkling jewelry just managed to reflect the light and give her a great glow.

Gold toned filagree, Swarovski crystals and gold toned charms for a pair of earrings with a certain grace about them.

Delicate Beauty $18 ++ reserved ++

I remember the times when mum and I would just stroll out to the garden and she would point at the brightly coloured butterflies that had taken a liking to dad's flowers. Nowadays there are not that many "natural" butterflies to see but the infatuation with them still lives on.

Recreating them... I used silver toned butterflies are paired with Swarovski pearls and lovely light blue Czech glass teardrops. Worn as a pair of silver toned studs.

Karin's Treasures $28

Mom knew how to dress... elegantly without being over the top. She would wear light summery dresses for the casual weekends when the whole family would troop down to some place of interest or other. This pair pays tribute to the casual weekends of fun we all had.

Freshwater light gold pearls are teamed with Karin's beautiful handmade polymer clay beads and a dainty gold butterfly. Classic elegance.

Grandeur -- gifted --

Rich bold hues dominate this bracelet. Red porcelain tiles are enhanced with duo toned faceted beads, gold filagree, Czech glass discs and Swarovski crystals. Ended with a gold toned tassle and closed with lobster clasp (clasp closure is part of the design).

Grandeur evokes memories of mum as she dressed up for functions. Belonging to the "older" generation, she was aware of the way they perceived black to be not a good colour to be worn at weddings. She would then make special effort to dress in red hues for them and CNY...

Growing up I always envisioned mum as someone full of elegance and grace. She was someone who carried herself well, was tall and well groomed. This bracelet reminds me of all that she is. Quiet, gentle yet oh so elegant.

And... on a parting note...
Singapore's beaders community is really really small. It is made even smaller by the directories that many of us use to advertise. It is a two edged sword really. We make ourselves more visible to buyers, and copycats alike.

Sometimes scrolling through the sites, I cannot help but find some pictures that make me sit up straight and go "gosh, that looks really familiar". I try and attribute it to a common design idea but sometimes...

Ok. Rant over. Back to bursting with suspense at having to keep the new collection under wraps!

Memories of Mum

Coming soon... A mother's day special collection to be launched on 25th April 07. It promises to be a unique mix of old and new ideas, a collection of childhood memories you formed with your mom and new memories you are forming with your children. It (should!) appeal to both your mum and yourself...

Going Through Hoops -- SOLD --

Wise men say, only fools fall in love :P But many more say they don't mind being fools for love. This pair willingly go through hoops just to be together. :-)

Rhodium plated hoops, silver toned charms and assorted Swarovski crystals complete this fun piece.

Somehow the hues remind me of ballet shoes, the flat soles with the ribbons that go all the way round the legs.

Made of 2 kinds of Swarovski crystals, one of which accounts for the cost. Still the dainty pair should flit their way into your heart.

Join the ballerinas as they dance in abadonment with the sway of your head. They dance for passion, with love.

Gold toned chains, charms and Swarovski crystals.

Ship Ahoy $18

Nautica themed with the ship's steering wheel (there MUST be a name for it...!) as the central focus with a strand of beaded Swarovski crystals to evoke memories of the sea.

I am no sea farer... I get seasick but such stuff, does well by me. I usually pop some motion sickness pill before getting aboard ships, lest I be some merlion lost at sea.

Cascades -- SOLD --

A gentle, feminine piece... Pewter butterflies sit atop a cascade of Swarovski crystals to create this piece. Soft and sensual. I imagine light summery walks through gardens... Nevermind that we are in the tropics. Think of an outdoor wedding with excesses of chiffon blowing in the wind.
